5 Things I’m Loving This Week–Halloween Edition

I don’t know about you, but I just love Halloween. It’s so much fun, and I love to dress up. I’m so excited to dress my little guys up and walk around the neighborhood. I bet your students love Halloween too! Observing holidays in your studio builds your studio community and increases engagement. Here are five Halloween Activities for violin students in your studio!

1.  This Halloween story would be a wonderful activity for group lesson— it’s a fun way to reinforce techniques like trills, relaxed shifting (sirens), and more!

2.  Add fun choreography to Witches Dance or play Sad Aunt Rhody. (Replace the C sharps with C Naturals.)

3.  There are tons of fun Halloween theory games and activities available for free online. Here is a very fun Bats and Cats rhythm Game that my students will be playing next week.

4. Expose your students to more repertoire by listening to some scary music.

5. Don’t forget to ask what your students are dressing as for Halloween. Kids love to talk about this, and it is a simple way to create connections to your students. If possible, do a performance or have them come to lesson in their costumes. My students love to perform in their Halloween costumes!
Holiday-themed lesson activities can be a great way to break things up and add excitement and engagement in your studio. You can even use Halloween to market your studio…for free! (besides the cost of materials..)
