Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Do parents attend lessons?
A: One of the most essential parts of lessons is teaching the parent how to be the at-home practice partner. Parents (especially of children under age 9) are asked to attend lessons, take notes, and practice with their children during the week.
Q: Can siblings come and watch?
A: Absolutely! We just ask that they stay fairly occupied and quiet. Obviously younger siblings aren't always quiet, and that's fine. Just no noisy toys.
Q: Are group lessons required?
A: Yes! That's where so much of the fun and excitement of lessons happens. You won't want to miss group lesson and the opportunity to make friends, play music games, learn improvisation and other music theory skills, and have fun.
Q: What if there is not enough enrollment for my group class?
A: If there is not enough enrollment for a group class, we will refund the group portion of your tuition fees, and you will not attend group that semester. We may start group class halfway through the semester and charge a reduced price if there is enough interest.
Q: What is the performance schedule like?
A: We have one required recital per semester, supplemented by occasional, optional community performances.
Q: Your fees are per semester. (January-May, mid August-December) Why is that and do I have to pay that much at once?
A: Asking for a semester commitment to lessons helps us plan group classes and other studio events. If you would like to pay monthly or quarterly, we just ask you to pay a $10 fee to set up that payment plan.
Q: It's not January (or August). Can we still enroll?
A: Absolutely! Your semester fees will be prorated dependent on your start date.
Q: Are there any extra fees?
A: There is a $45 new student fee, $15 returning student fee. This helps to pay for your Suzuki Association of Utah membership, which allows you to participate in master classes and other fun activities. Pre-Twinkle group class has a $15 materials fee.
Q: What ages do you teach?
A: All ages. Infants can attend our early childhood classes, and adults can take private lessons. To quote Kay Collier Stone, "They're rarely too young and never too old to Twinkle."
